How did the birds die? - Flock of Birds Flying over the Water

At some point in the movie, Isaac is being asked to watch two zebra finches birds called Tony and 400. The friend also says:

New food every other day.

New water every day.

New filtered clean water every day.

And these guys pretty much take care of the rest themselves

Yet despite the simple requirements, the birds die.

How did it happen? Can anyone tell what Isaac did wrong?

Since birds have very high metabolisms, death is often very fast because organ failure happens rapidly. Sudden death is usually caused by some type of toxin, especially something airborne, a virus, or an issue with an internal organ, which can sometimes be genetic.

What causes the birds to die in dark?

Startled birds flee from the forest en masse, but the following electromagnetic pulse disrupts their sense of balance during flight, causing them to fall to their deaths. At one time in 1986, the event has caused an entire herd of sheep to die abruptly in their pasture.
