What captured this Pokemon? - Silhouette of Person Standing on Beach Shore

In Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Mewtwo is captured by 4 floating electric balls. Are these a specific Pokémon (Magnemite-related, perhaps)? Or are these just high-tech machines?

I watched the film and they seemed like machines, but a friend argued they were Magnezones. Who is correct?

Best Answer

According to Bulbapedia, you are correct. The only evolutionary form in Detective Pikachu was Magnemite. Considering how incredibly literal the interpretations of the Pokemon were in the movie, the things that captured MewTwo were not Magnemites.

How are Pokémon caught?

The catching process typically involves a battle in which the wild Pok\xe9mon is at first weakened and/or affected with a status condition, at which point the Trainer throws a Pok\xe9 Ball at said Pok\xe9mon in order to catch it. The success of a Pok\xe9 Ball depends on catch rate.

How do you know where your Pokémon was caught?

To find where you caught it, scroll down to the very bottom until you see a map. It takes a few seconds to load at times because the app saves the GPS coordinates and map is populated accordingly. Once the map has loaded, you will be able to see the area the Pokemon spawned in.

What do you call someone who catches Pokémon?

Bug Catcher: Catch bug Pok\xe9mon.

Do Pokémon choose to be caught?

A Pokemon can choose to get caught and can choose not to get caught if they feel like the trainer is not worthy or strong enough (my theory on why legendary Pokemon are harder to catch; they are just waiting for a trainer to prove him or herself). Pokemon have also chosen not to obey, both in the anime and the games.
