Why does this character have the dream? - Man with black and gold body art

By the end of Batman: Gotham By Gaslight it is revealed that:

Commissioner Gordon is Jack the Ripper.

Then why did he have a dream earlier about his wife dying at the hands of Jack the Ripper?

Best Answer

It is because of the fact that, Gordon believes that women bring filth and are sins to life. So he feels, as a retired Civil War soldier, it is his duty to clean Gotham of this filth. When Batman finds the secret door where Gordon conducted his experiments in his house, Barbara Gordon tells him that he (commissioner Gordon) freed her of her sins by punishing her.

But still Gordon was afraid of himself that he might even go further and eliminate her to maybe free her of her sins completely, finish it for better.

Are we every character in our dreams?

This fascinating finding demonstrates a phenomenon inherent to dreaming that we often fail to acknowledge: All of the characters within a dream\u2014be it your parents, your friends, an attractive stranger or a spiritual guru\u2014all of them, along with your own dreamed self, are simultaneous creations of your mind.

Why do I keep dreaming of the same character?

Because we think about them so much in our waking life, the chances of seeing them in our dreams are higher. Dreaming about them may indicate that you're trying to reconnect with that person. And those dreams could be the continuation of your time together with that person. Such recurring dreams reflect your reality.

How do dream characters work?

Dream characters were asked to draw or write, to name unknown words, to find rhyme words, to make verses, and to solve arithmetic problems. Part of the dream characters actually agreed to perform the tasks and were successful, although the arithmetic accomplishments were poor.
