At what point in E.T. do E.T and Elliot begin to 'bond'?

At what point in E.T. do E.T and Elliot begin to 'bond'? - Black and white of cheerful provocative male standing near paper wall and taking off t shirt while looking at camera

I'm rewatching E.T. and noticed something like interesting:

  1. Just before the 25 minute mark E.T. purrs and Elliot feels sleepy
  2. The next day Elliot is and home and when E.T. begins to eat the car Elliot feels hungry

Does this mark the beginning of their bonding or does it happen later?

The story follows a young boy named Elliott as he discovers an alien, who he later names E.T, hiding near his house. E.T. has been separated from his spaceship and fellow aliens. Elliott immediately takes a liking to E.T. and takes care of the frightened creature by hiding him in his closet and feeding him.

What does E.T. say to Elliot before he leaves?

E.T. says goodbye to Michael and Gertie, as she presents him with the flower he had revived. Before boarding the spaceship, he embraces Elliott and tells him "I'll be right here", pointing his glowing finger to Elliott's forehead.

What does E.T. say to Elliot?

It gets sadder! After they hug it out, E.T. holds his healing, glowing finger up to Elliott's forehead and says, "I'll be right here." Yet another callback!
