Which movie franchise had the fastest reboot, where both the original and the reboot were shot in the US? - A Photo Of A Clouds Formation In The Sky

Out of all US movie franchises (e.g. Superman, Batman, X-men, etc.), which one had a reboot done after the least amount of time? To specify what a "reboot" is, I'll quote another related post:

To clarify, the term reboot in this question refers to a movie that:

  • differs from the previously existing canon in a significant way, and
  • starts over a continued story of some sort, so more than just one isolated movie.

That's how I would distinguish it from a remake, even though I doubt that this is a definition everyone agrees with.

Prequels, sequels, reboots and remakes tend to be so secure that they can be usually be reliably counted on to make up any shortfall over more risky or daring projects, giving the studios to take a chance on films or series that may otherwise not see the light of day.

Are remakes and reboots the same?

Movie reboots are also when a new movie is made based on an older movie (or sometimes a movie franchise). However, reboots usually do not focus on retelling the same storyline from the source material, as remakes do.

Answer 2

How about the Punisher movies? 2004 and 2008. The second one was intended as a sequel but ended up being a reboot. Also, there was a 1989 Punisher movie, but I'm not sure it counts. If it does, there are 2 reboots in 19 years.
