I'm currently rewatching the second season of HBO's Big Little Lies. In episode 2.04 titled, Kill Me, Bonnie is reading a book while staying with her mother, whose in the hospital after she had a stroke.

It looks like the title of the book is 'Wild Trees', but I haven't been able to find a screencap to confirm if that is in fact the whole title or whom the author is. Doing a quick search I have only come up with, The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring by Richard Preston.

But is this the book that Bonnie is reading and if so (or not), what is the significance of the book she's reading?
