I was just wondering if I need to watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe television shows in order of airing. I haven't watched Agents of SHIELD - would I miss out on anything if I went ahead and watched Agent Carter and Daredevil?

Do characters/plotlines cross over? Or do they work fine on their own?

Please DO NOT post any spoilers. If you must, format them in spoiler blocks.

There are some small, Easter egg type links between Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter and Daredevil - but in general, they follow seperate characters in different areas of the world, and even different time periods.

Unless you REALLY need to know how every aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is linked, then you won't be missing out on anything by watching Agent Carter or Daredevil without first seeing Agents of SHIELD.

That being said, you may wish to make sure that you have seen at least Captain America: The First Avenger before watching Agent Carter, as the two are quite firmly linked.

Do I need to watch Agent Carter before what if?

If you need a quick refresher on how Peggy Carter became a superhero, watch the first episode of What If, but if you want to truly understand Peggy's character, your best bet is The First Avenger.

When should I start watching Agents of SHIELD?

It's best to watch Agents of SHIELD season 3, episodes 1-19, then check out Captain America: Civil War, before returning to finish season 3.

Is watching Daredevil necessary?

Not necessary at all. You don't need to watch any Marvel TV show that was made before Disney+ to understand the movies. The TV show rarely reference the movies, and the connection is completely one way.

Is Agents of SHIELD a must watch?

Definitely yes. It will cost you to get thorugh the first 10 episodes you can skip episode 6 and 9 both are a wasting of time. So I recommend you to watch episode 1 2 3 4 5 7 8 and 10... Then keep going until episode 16 and watch The Winter Soldier. And then you will realize how good it is.

Answer 2

The shows are setup to be independent from the movies and each other. There are references and easter eggs that enrich each other, but nothing essential.

If you want the most out of it, watch the shows in the order they were released: Marvel movies and shows in order.
