Was Childhood's End Intended To Parallel Biblical Prophecy?

Was Childhood's End Intended To Parallel Biblical Prophecy? - Yellow and Black Wooden Cabinet

I just finished watching the three-part SyFy channel mini-series adaptation of "Childhood's End", and I was left wondering about a number of seeming correlations between the story told (originally by Arthur C. Clarke) and the Biblical prophecies of the "End Times".

Specifically, the character of Karellen seems to echo the Christian "Antichrist" figure in a number of ways - not to mention

his physical resemblance to the commonly used image for Satan and/or other demons.

Additionally,

the removal of the children with the adults being left behind

is similar to the idea of the Rapture in Christian eschatology.

So, my question is, does anyone have any references to anything that would either confirm or deny an intended parallel between the story of "Childhood's End" (either in Clarke's original telling, or this new adaptation) and Biblical prophecy?

What happened at the end of childhoods end?

Karellen wants him to accept his own mortality, and Ricky does. He chooses to walk away from the dream and go and die with Ellie (Daisy Betts) in the real world rather than live in a fantasy world. And that's him throwing away his own childhood \u2014 his childhood's end, I suppose.

Is there a sequel to childhoods end?

The Childhood's End TV series finale aired on Syfy, last night. While the show was not cancelled, it was always meant to be a limited event (i.e. mini-) series. There will be no season two. Executive Producer Matthew Graham is talking about Childhood's End and what it all might mean.
