End of Ame Agaru

End of Ame Agaru - Woman in Black Leather Jacket Sitting on Brown Wooden Floor

I just watched After the Rain (1999), or Ame agaru (original title), and I don't really understand the end of the film. The Lord of the fief was supposed to catch Misawa, to accept him as Master-of-Arms. But he didn't! The film ended just before that. How should I understand that? Do you have any explanations?
