The crime thriller film Zodiac left too many unanswered questions for us. One of them is the similarity between the handwriting of Bob Vaughn (who used to work with Rick Marshall, one of the Zodiac suspects) and the handwriting in the Zodiac letters. Since Arthur Lieh was considered to be the real Zodiac killer, this handwriting mystery remained unsolved as Bob Vaughn had nothing to do with Arthur Lieh (apparently). Does there exist an explanation? I will be delighted to have one.

What was the significance of Bob Vaughn in Zodiac?

In the movie "Zodiac" the cartoonist Robert Graysmith takes on investigation of the Zodiac killer and eventually tracks down Bob Vaughn. During the episode it is revealed that the handwriting on a movie poster that matched closely with Zodiac's handwriting is in fact Bob Vaughn's.

Was Bob Vaughn real?

Let's start by saying that Vaughn isn't even a true person... He's a fictional character. I mean, yes, it is based on true events, it doesn't mean that all of it happened just as it goes in the movie.

Who does Graysmith think the Zodiac is?

The movie depicts a meeting between Robert Graysmith and his main suspect he believes is the Zodiac Killer, Arthur Leigh Allen. The movie shows Graysmith going inside the hardware store that Allen works at and the two staring each other down, which is pretty similar to actual events.

What does the basement scene mean in the zodiac?

The scene is meant to be a misdirect to raise doubts about Allen as the Zodiac killer. Graysmith is nervous and his heightened anxiety might lead him (and us as viewers) to register any sounds as a potential second person in the house.
