Is there any overlap between Blow (2001) and American Made (2017)? - Side view of crop anonymous African American female in towel blowing off foam from hand in bathroom

Both Blow (2001) and American Made (2017) deal with US citizens smuggling large quantities of heroin/cocaine into the US for Pablo Escobar. Granted, the Escobar in Blow appears to be older and more entrenched than the Escobar in American Made (which is completely screwed because Blow supposedly took place before American Made...), but was there any overlap in terms of other players, or even Jung/Seal?

How much of the movie American Made is true?

In the least, his exploits with the CIA and agent Monty Schafer in the movie are largely fictional and based on speculation. In his research for the book, the only confirmed connection Hahn could make between the CIA and Barry Seal was in 1984, after Seal had started working as an informant for the DEA.

Who played Barry Seal in blow?

The seemingly ageless Tom Cruise has been Hollywood's top gun for 30 years now, though it's debatable whether he's ever before played a character as amoral as Barry Seal, the lead in this wild escapade from The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman.

Was American Made based on true story?

It is inspired by the life of Barry Seal, a former TWA pilot who flew missions for the CIA, and became a drug smuggler for the Medell\xedn Cartel in the 1980s. In order to avoid jail time, Seal became an informant for the DEA.
