Why did Felix betray Cortez family?
In near the end of the 2002 film Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams it's revealed that Felix works for the antagonist Donnagon:
Donnagon: Get the transmooker device Felix.
Carmen: Uncle Felix, how could you?
Felix: I am not your uncle.
Ingrid: But we treated you like family.
Felix: Donnagon said if I joined him he wouldn't get rid of me. like he's going to do to you guys.
What was the real reason for Felix's betrayal?
He told Ingrid that Donnagon wouldn't get rid of him if he joined him. So is this the reason for his betrayal to his friends? Just because he is safe after joining the antagonist?
