Why did Megatron think cyberforming the earth was a good idea?

Why did Megatron think cyberforming the earth was a good idea? - Man in Red Polo Shirt Thought a Good Idea

In Transformers Prime, Megatron twice attempted to Cyberform the earth (once in Darkest Hour and once in DeadLock). He did this in the belief that by cyberforming the earth, he would wipe out both humanity and the band of Autobots there.

However, as we learned in One shall rise, in this continuity the earth is actually Unicron's slumbering form. The last time Unicron was waking up the earth was bursting forth with Dark Energon and the enemy of all that lives was able to create an arguably infinite number of deadly stone avatars. They only managed to disable Unicron with the matrix of leadership, but as the movie shows, his anti-spark still exists: he is very much not dead. Therefore, wouldn't it have been a foolish mistake to risk waking up Unicron?

Why did the Autobots choose Earth?

In the Aligned continuity the Transformers were searching for new hope after dark energon became harmful to their planet. Shockwave would discover earth, and would grow interested in it. This would lead to him giving the Dinobots and Insecticons their alt modes.

What was Megatron trying to do?

Usually, however, he simply referred to as the Beast Wars Megatron. His ultimate goal is the conquest of Cybertron, where he was branded a criminal.

Who was the first Decepticon on Earth?

Towards the end of season one, Megatronus/The Fallen, the first Decepticon, contacts Steeljaw and convinces him to build him a space bridge so he can return to Earth. Steeljaw does so, but once on Earth, Megatronus attempts to destroy both Earth and Cybertron.
