Wasn't Lumbergh the Vice President in Office Space?

Then how did the Bobs want to fire him? How much power did those consultants have?

Best Answer

I agree that Lumbergh was a VP, and that his job was really not on the line. The Bobs ended up liking Peter Gibbons, presumably because he was so plainly honest about what went on at Initech. So when Lumbergh gave Peter a thumbs down, the Bobs went to bat for Peter and started to analyze why Lumbergh didn't understand Peter.

Who started the fire in Office Space?

Milton reveals his intentions to burn down the building nineteen minutes into the movie. During his and Peter's phone conversation as Peter is trying to clean up his desk to leave, Milton tells him that "if they take my stapler, I'll have to... I'll set the building on fire."

Did Milton take the money?

Well, he finally did it. After leaving the money and a note to Lumbergh in the Initech building, Peter later drove by to see the building in flames. The note was destroyed and Peter got away with the stealing scheme. Milton found the money and took off to a tropical destination with it.
